The Session has called a Congregational Meeting for July 13 following the worship service for the purpose of informing the congregation where the Forward in Faith project stands and to ask their approval for the next step on the building.
The Congregational Nominating Committee is continuing to work on its annual task. All input and ideas are welcome for people who might serve as Deacons or Elders! Please contact Trisha Nebel, Diana Forster, Melinda Sams, Tammy Foley, Will Brock, Suzanne Driscoll, Robert Baue or Ken Waddell if you know of a person who might be a prospect for service.
Any Hidden Talent Out There????????
During the Sanctuary Choir's Summer Break, there are opportunities available for anyone who would like to present special music during our Sunday worship services. If you would like to present a Sunday anthem, or know of someone who would be willing, please let Laurie Kersey know!
Calhoun First Presbyterian Church Welcomes 6 Confirmation Youth
Calhoun First Presbyterian Church's Holy Week included the Graduation of the 2008 Confirmation Class.
Presbyterians believe in Infant Baptism which declares that God's Action is more significant than Believer's Action in Baptism. Thus, an Infant can be presented by a Faithful Parent and welcomed into the community of faith, by "Grace Alone." In addition to Infants, children of God at all ages can be presented, and adults are welcomed to Baptism. When children begin the age of faith maturity (usually around 12) they can embrace The Bible and God-talk in abstract as well as concrete concepts. At this time, Confirmation Class offers instruction and an intensive partnership in the Faith Journey of inquiring young people. The Confirmation Study Catechism focuses on 3 foundations of Presbyterian Membership and Faith: The Apostles Creed, The 10 Commandments and The Lord's Prayer. Study for confirmation included
“106 Biblically Based Questions and Answers” and are free online at:www.pcusa.org/theologyandworship/confession/confirmationcatechism.htm
“We give thanks to God for our Confirmation Students, their families, prayer partners and faith partners!” remarked Pastor Ken Waddell. For more information, or if you, or your children are interested in future Confirmation Classes, please contact Pastor Ken Waddell at 706-629-4304. First Presbyterian Church is located at 829 Red Bud Road.
